After reading the article in the Jan. 21, 2009 Hood River News titled "EPA Report Seen as 'Call To Action,'" I realized again how important it is, epecially to those of us here in the Gorge, to do all we can to optimize our health due to the assault of chemicals our bodies face daily. Of course, we all know eating a well-balanced diet and exercising is crucial to this--but what if we could do more, feel more, have more life?

There are abundant amounts of vitamins, antioxidants, enzymes, amino acids, and chlorophyll available in wheatgrass. It stands to reason that anyone exposed to the Columbia River for any length of time, should be ingesting wheatgrass juice to counteract the effects of the many harmful chemicals found in the water, as far as I'm concerned!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the chemicals found in the EPA study can cause cancer. Wheatgrass contains high amounts of folic acid, an important building block of chromosomes, and can help repair chromosomes that are already damaged.

The cholorophyll contained within increases the production of hemoglobin, stepping up the amount of oxygen available to cells. Oxygen is important in the fight against cancer and tumors. The list of other important cancer-fighting chemicals in wheatgrass goes on and on... It can also help with overall health and vitality, immune health, and weight loss.

Now that the new year is upon us, (with all those "New Years Resolutions), maybe it's time to look beyond that dusty ol'treadmill and those fast-track diets and start doing something REALLY good for our bodies!

Anyone who is interested can read "The Wheatgrass Book" by Ann Wigmore or surf the net for oodles of info on the subject. Am interested to hear what others have to say on the subject so please feel free to speak up!

Just a quick note...have been juicing again for about a week--and I can't believe how much energy I have. Not sure if it's a combination of working out as well, but I'll take it. I feel GREAT!!!
